Adani and Kowa form JV to sell green hydrogen and ammonia in Japan, Taiwan
Adani Global, a wholly owned subsidiary of Indian energy major Adani Group, and Japan-based manufacturing company Kowa Holdings Asia have formed an equal joint venture for the marketing and sale of Adani’s green hydrogen and ammonia in Japan, Taiwan and Hawaii. Green hydrogen will be produced by Adani New Industries Limited, an arm of Adani Group. The first project from ANIL, set to begin production by 2027, will produce one million tonnes per year of green hydrogen.
Canada grants Romania C$3bn for nuclear power
Canada’s Minister of Energy and Natural Resources has committed to granting Romania C$3bn ($2.2bn) of funding for nuclear projects. After discussions with the Minister of Energy for Romania, the two agreed on the sum of export financing available to Nuclearelectrica, operator of the Cernavoda Nuclear Generating Station. This will support the construction of two CANDU-6 reactors at the plant.
EDF acquires solar energy company SAS Energy
EDF Renewables UK and Ireland (EDF Renewables) has announced the acquisition of SAS Energy, a solar energy provider for the commercial and industrial sectors. SAS Energy became a fully owned subsidiary of EDF on 15 September. More than 45 projects, both in development and construction, now fall under EDF ownership.
CarbonScape secures $18m investment for biographite
Biomass developer Stora Enso, along with other partners, will invest $18m in New Zealand-based biomaterials producer CarbonScape for its biographite technology. According to a press statement from CarbonScape, the funds will be used to establish commercial production of biographite, a sustainable alternative to a critical material used in lithium-ion (Li-ion) batteries, in Europe and the US.
