LG Energy Solution has unveiled its plan to build a new battery manufacturing complex in the US. The manufacturing complex will be built in Queen Creek Arizona, and represents the single biggest investment to date in a stand-alone battery production facility in North America, with a total investment of $5.5bn.

German power generation company RWE has commenced operation of its 342MW offshore wind farm, Kaskasi. Built with an investment of nearly $861.9m (€800m), the Kaskasi wind farm has the potential to meet the power requirements of more than 400,000 households. The facility is ocated around 35km north of the island of Heligoland.

Neptunus energy hub

Location: Baltic Sea, south of Sweden 

Power source: Hydrogen and electricity 

Output: 1.9GW

Swedish renewable project developer OX2 has commenced the construction of a 1.9GW energy hub called Neptunus in the southern Baltic Sea. Located in the Swedish economic zone, the hub will have the capacity to produce both electricity and hydrogen. It will feature offshore wind turbines as well as installations to convert electricity to hydrogen.
