With Enerlytics’ Thermo-

dynamic Modelling

Turning data into relevant information

Power plants produce a lot of data –but using all its potential can be a significant challenge. Uniper’s platform Enerlytics maximizes the knowledge gain from data, creating actionable insights and adjusting your power plants’ processes to achieve more efficiency and reliability.

Enerlytics delivers a holistic view of power plant assets, capturing data from multiple sources, and performing streaming and batch analytics. It enables better access to data, data handling and data analyzing – and you can choose exactly the solutions you need for your specific challenges.

As an owner and operator of a 34 GW diverse power generation portfolio, we understand energy. Our whole approach is backed by top class engineering expertise and first-hand knowledge.

Turning data into relevant information

Enerlytics is an innovative solution that gets the best from the huge amount of data that power plants collect day by day. Its series of applications are based on many years of plant operation by high-level engineers and managers, consolidating their immense knowledge and experience in one platform. By collecting information from multiple sources and bringing it together, Enerlytics presents useful insights that allow operators to optimize the way their power plant is run.

Thermodynamic
Modelling

One of Enerlytics’ features is Thermodynamic Modelling. This user-friendly application presents an overview of thermal process and is a solution for analyzing, predicting and improving a power plant’s thermal performance.

It is highly modular allowing extensive flexibility, as well as enabling up-to-date analysis of plant performances at a component level, applying a range of different computations and analysis, which can be used to optimize plant efficiency and power generation

Thermodynamic twin

Thermodynamic Modelling provides a live thermodynamic simulation to enable you to monitor your plant’s performance. This “thermodynamic twin” gives you access to a consistent set of measurements across the thermal system, to answer “what-if” scenarios where there is no data available.

Modular composition

Plant models are built from modules representing physical plant items. Each building block consists of its own unique set of equations, covering performance, mass and energy transfers. You can look at specific components or at the site in its entirety. And you can then set up regular analyses to determine the impact of individual assets on the plant’s overall performance, if for example one factor is changed and everything else stays the same.

Troubleshooting

The tool can be used to identify areas where the plant is underperforming. It allows you to compare design data and live data to figure out if the plant is behaving as expected. If there are deviations from the expected performance, the model can help you locate the plant items that are underperforming. It can also contribute to identifying where thermodynamic losses appear – so mitigation can be targeted efficiently.

Test scenario

Thermodynamic Modelling gives an understanding of how individual plant items interact and affect overall plant performance. You are able to model different scenarios and view the impact on the process as a whole. In this way models of the plant can be used for more in-depth one-off studies, e.g. different fuels, cleaning regimes, maintenance upgrades or plant reconfiguration. Based on your tests, you can tell which changes increase the efficiency and which ones adversely affect the performance.
