RSCC is the flagship member of Marmon Engineered Wire & Cable, which consists of 13 companies and a world class Research, Development & Innovation Center located in Connecticut.

Marmon Engineered Wire & Cable (EWC) is a member of the Marmon Group, a Berkshire/Hathaway Company.

With over 50 years of continuous service in the nuclear market, RSCC is the most experienced global manufacturer of standard and custom engineered nuclear grade cables. As a result, RSCC has been the cable supplier of choice in the nuclear energy industry worldwide.

RSCC’s entry into the nuclear industry began when the Navy selected Rockbestos wire for the first nuclear submarine, Nautilus, launched in 1954.

The success of the Navy’s nuclear power program, inspired electric utilities to invest in construction of nuclear powered generating stations.

In the late 1960’s, construction ensued at an accelerated pace, as the United States envisioned nuclear power to be the answer to future energy needs.

Recognizing opportunity and intrigued by technical challenges of this significant new market; RSCC became one of the first manufacturers to supply qualified cables, utilizing proprietary materials, and its history of product innovation.

Spurred by the rapid growth of the Nuclear market, RSCC embraced an exciting new crosslinking technology and constructed a state of the art manufacturing facility.

This technology (Electron Beam Irradiation) exposes cable to high levels of electrical energy for the purpose of crosslinking or altering the chemical structure of the polymer material.

This greatly enhances durability, resistance to heat and chemical attack, and many other physical properties. It also provides superior electrical properties, as the resulting materials are cleaner; eliminating residual contaminants associated with vulcanization.

RSCC engineered cable products are resistant to the effects of chemical, extreme temperature, radiation, moisture, corrosion, fire and other use hazards; providing optimal effectiveness under conditions where ordinary cables fail The Firewall® III” product line, is the flagship product and is the “product of choice” for the Nuclear industry. Primarily known as a manufacture of Low Voltage cables, recognizing its position as a market leader and strengthening its commitment to the industry, RSCC has expanded its product offering to include Medium Voltage cables, along with a wide variety of specialty products that include Low Smoke Halogen Free, Fire Rated Circuit Integrity, High Temperature, Fiber Optic, and Category Cables.

As the unquestioned technical leader, RSCC is currently working with key industry officials in preparation to support the technological challenges facing the next generation of reactors.

RSCC’s facility has many unique manufacturing capabilities including a full range of extrusion, cabling, armor, and jacket machines capable of supporting the core product competency. Where necessary, RSCC can utilize the expertise of other Marmon EWC companies to enhance its product portfolio all supported under the RSCC qualification umbrella. The RSCC facility also houses an extensive state of the art R&D lab with equipment to test and qualify existing and new insulation and jacket materials. Tests include tensile strength and elongation, flame tests, and a Dedicated LOCA chamber, pertaining to 10 CFR Appendix B, ANSI and NQA-1.

RSCC’s supplies cable to all operating plants in the United States, as well as those in Korea, China, UAE, Argentina, Canada, Spain, Slovenia, Sweden and Mexico.

In addition to its own in-house test capabilities, RSCC has the ability to draw upon the resources of Marmon EW&C’s R&D facility for material development, evaluation and testing critieria.

RSCC Wire & Cable, like all Marmon Engineered companies, work closely with end users to solve application-engineering problems utilizing a combination of electrical, mechanical and chemical engineering professionals unparalleled in the industry.

RSCC Wire & Cable can be trusted to bring to the market the most technologically advanced and safest products available in the world today.
