Rain Erosion Testing (RET)
The leading edge of any wind turbine blade is exposed to extreme conditions during its operation. This environment sets high demands on the leading edge protection (LEP).
· As a part of evaluating a LEP, we perform accelerated Rain Erosion Testing to understand erosion behavior, failure mode & performance.
· To ensure correct performance of the LEP solutions, we manufacture our own test specimens. This allows us to support our customer to validate their LEP solution for every operational blade type currently available.
· As part of the service, we can apply the LEP system under simulated environmental conditions.
· This test rig combined with the unique knowledge within our team gives AeroNordic a unique position in the wind industry as an independent third-party engineering house.
· Our RET is fully compliant with the DNVGL RP-0171.
· Test procedure and reporting, aligned with OEM’s.

· With a new rig configuration combined with recommended practice from DNV-GL, we offer a strong correlation to in-field performance.
· In addition to the basic rain erosion testing. A detailed analysis of the rain erosion test data combined with site-specific weather data allows our engineers to establish in-field erosion performance predictions.
· This service opens a new and much more diversified approach to leading edge protection on new installations and maintenance strategy for the legacy fleet.
