Schneider Electric in talks with Bentley Systems for potential acquisition
French energy management company Schneider Electric has confirmed that it is in preliminary discussions with US-based Bentley Systems regarding a potential acquisition. Bentley Systems is a software specialist with a market value of nearly $16bn. If a full takeover occurs at current valuations, it would be one of the top ten US acquisitions by a French company.
Stratek Global enters partnership to develop HTMR-100 SMR in South Africa
Stratek Global and Koya Capital have entered a partnership to secure the financing and construction of a R9bn ($480m) first-of-a-kind reactor in South Africa. The new HTMR-100 reactor, derived from the Pebble Bed Modular Reactor programme aimed at building small-scale, high-temperature reactors using graphite-coated TRISO fuel and helium as a coolant, will produce 100MW of heat and 35MW of electricity.
Engie, Iberdrola and investment firms eye acquisition of ENWL
Engie and Iberdrola, along with other investment firms, plan to place bids for the UK-based power network Electricity North West (ENWL), which delivers electricity to five million UK customers. Jefferies, the advisor for ENWL’s shareholders on the sale, has asked for initial expressions of interest by early May 2024. The deal will take the total valuation of ENWL to €4bn.
Mytilineos signs contract for second CCGT project in Poland
Greece-based Mytilineos has entered a consortium with Siemens Energy to construct a 560MW CCGT power unit at the Adamów Power Plant, owned and operated by ZE PAK, in Turek, Poland. The project is expected to be finished by Q2 2027. Mytilineos has already signed an EPC contract to construct another 560MW CCGT in Grudziadz, also in consortium with Siemens.
