Game changer for tomorrow's energy 

One of the main energy sources of the future, talking renewable energy, is wind power. And no matter if we are talking onshore or offshore wind power, you need strong and reliable cranes to erect and maintain the necessary turbines. The dimensions of modern offshore wind turbines are already enormous today. So are the challenges for handling their gigantic components. Here comes our latest development into play: The game changer for tomorrow’s energy, the LR 12500-1.0!

The design of the slewing platform and the main boom sets new standards as the uniquely wide main boom gives the crane the stability of a PowerBoom. We therefore call this new boom construction the HighPerformance boom. Despite the enormous capacity of up to 2,500 tons and the size of its individual components, this new crawler crane comes with a unique, practical concept for an easy and economical transport. The powerful crane is mainly designed for loading heavyweight goods such as offshore wind power components at ports or for industrial applications. First types are already delivered into the market – and have successfully started their work to change our energy mix forever. In its first deployment, one LR 12500-1.0 lifts foundation pillars measuring almost 90 metres into the water. It is supported in handling these 1,360 tons monopiles by a Liebherr LR 1800-1.0 crawler crane. Handled at the port of Rostock, these monopiles are used for the “Baltic Eagle” offshore wind farm.
