Shanghai Electric, Siemens to drive green digital grid transformation
Shanghai Electric and Siemens have signed a framework agreement to accelerate the green digital grid transformation, focusing on low- and medium-voltage power system equipment to help achieve China’s dual-carbon goals. The companies aim to drive market expansion, digital upgrades and green transformation, developing equipment and integrated solutions to deliver additional ‘lighthouse projects’. In April 2025, they signed a strategic cooperation agreement to advance transmission, digitalisation and decarbonisation.
Brookfield makes renewable energy investments in the Philippines, Thailand and Vietnam
Brookfield Asset Management has made its first renewables investments in the Philippines, Thailand and Vietnam. The company has acquired Alba Renewables, a clean energy developer with 1.8GW of wind, solar and battery storage assets in the Philippines and Thailand, as well as a 100MW wind project in Vietnam. It deployed the investments via its Catalytic Transition Fund, which recently established a partnership with Solarvest in Malaysia to jointly develop 1.5GW of solar and storage projects.
GE Vernova to supply 42 wind turbines for Gurbanesti project
GE Vernova has signed an agreement with Greenvolt Power to supply onshore wind turbines for the Gurbanesti wind farm in Călărași county, Romania. The contractual scope covers the supply, installation and commissioning of 42 units of 6.1MW, 158m rotor turbines. This marks GE Vernova’s second onshore wind agreement in Romania in two months, following an earlier deal to deliver 42 turbines for the Ialomița wind farm.
Envision and GES partner on BESS and wind projects in Spain
Envision Energy and GES have entered a partnership to scale battery energy storage systems (BESS) and wind power in Spain and wider Europe. The deal encompasses the entire value chain for BESS and wind turbine generators, including construction, installation, commissioning, operation and maintenance. Envision will deliver training and digital tools for GES, while GES will use Envision’s tools to improve project visibility, streamline order dispatching and optimise execution efficiency.
