Iberdrola and Norges Bank finalise 1.26GW Spanish renewables deal

Iberdrola has finalised an alliance with the sovereign fund of Norway, managed by Norges Bank Investment Management, to sell a 49% stake in a Spanish renewables portfolio with a 1.26GW capacity. Comprising solar (80%) and wind (20%) projects, the renewables portfolio has been valued at €1.2bn ($1.29bn). The remaining 51% stake will be held by Iberdrola.

Hull Street buys Texas gas-fired plant portfolio from Atlas

Hull Street Energy, a Maryland-based investor in energy assets, has purchased 100%  of the Bastrop Energy Center and the Paris Energy Center power plants from Mesquite Generation. Located in the cities of Bastrop and Paris, Texas, the two natural gas-fired power plants generate a total of 855MW of critical power to the state grid.

Constellation to acquire NRG’s stake in Texas nuclear plant

Constellation Energy has agreed to acaquire NRG Energy’s 44% stake in South Texas Project Electric Generating Station, a 2.6GW nuclear plant in Houston, US, for $1.75bn. Constellation plans to use a combination of cash and debt to finance the transaction. The remaining ownership is held by Austin Energy and CPS Energy.

Mitsubishi Electric and MHI agree to merge power generator businesses

Mitsubishi Electric and Mitsubishi Heavy Industries have signed an agreement to combine their generator systems businesses under a new joint venture. From April 2024, Mitsubishi Electric will hold a 51% stake, while the remaining 49% will be held by Mitsubishi Heavy Industries.
